Reading: Genesis 46-47 (ESV)
I have difficulty trying to imagine what it must have been like to have lived through the famine; to start from a position of plenty, to ending up in a position of having sold off and given over control of everything. It’s rather amazing, how God, in his providence prepared the way for Joseph and his family amidst the difficulty of the situation. Where the Egyptians were having to beg, borrow and steal, as it were, Joseph’s family was well provided for. As I read these two chapters I was continually struck by the hand of God at work, despite the situation. He’s always working. God never takes a day off on his people. No matter the difficulty, no matter the hardship, God is there and he’s at work. It seems so simple a thing to remember, yet it’s one of those things I (and so many) sometimes have trouble to do.
God help us to trust you when we don’t see you. To believe you when we don’t feel you.
