Pray for the Nations (day 14)

You may have noticed some inconsistency in the daily post, Pray for the Nations. Let me remind you, the aim here is to offer, even a few moments of focused prayer for a different country each day, for 60 days. I began this challenge just prior to the end of last year and within the first week, there were problems receiving the daily email from Operation World. These problems continued into the following week, and quite honestly, I found myself a bit agitated today. Let’s call it as it’s seen. I don’t need any excuses to miss a day within a 60 day challenge. I’ll likely do just fine missing here and there on my own over the course of the time frame. So to begin the challenge with problems within each of the first two weeks, was disheartening to say the least; especially given the nature of the challenge.

Then today, I receive the following in an email. And all is apparently set right again.

Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you for your forbearance, and I hope your prayers, as we have made improvements in the Operation World Pray Today and 60-day Prayer Challenge lists over the last couple of weeks, but also encountered problems that caused daily prayer reminders to be missed or delayed the last two long holiday weekends. Fortunately, one of the changes when we caused the problems also holds the solution for those of you who want to catch up on the lost days. Read on to find out about the changes we have made and current answers to several frequently asked questions about the lists.

Recent Changes
  • The daily prayer pages the email messages link to are now permanent, so if you don’t read one of your daily prayer reminder messages until a few days after it was sent, you will still go to a page with the same prayer points on it. These pages have easily remembered URLs, so that if you don’t receive your email reminder for any reason, you can still go to a particular daily prayer web page. Links to the pages missed over the last two weekends will illustrate the form of the new URLs:

Openness. What a strong and powerful word when uttered in the context of a nation’s spiritual condition. God, may you continue to pry open the doors of spiritual openness for the people of Denmark, that they all the more come to truly know you, and be known by you.

While not perfect by any stretch, as the prayer information would suggest, it’s encouraging to pray for a country where there is some obvious evidence that God’s spirit is being received and acted upon.

It fills one with an awe inspired since of God at work when statistics point, at least to a degree, toward positive spiritual growth and out comes. With spiritual victory being had for the peoples of Denmark, it reminds me all the more that prayer is necessary. It seems as though spiritual attack most always comes to those and to those places where God is alive and at work; if only in a small percentage. Just because the outlook for Denmark is more favorable than other places around the globe, they need prayer just the same, thus we can’t forgo interceding on their behalf too. And so we say, Father God, continue to move across the people of Denmark. Continue to create open doors to do your work, in your ways.

Today’s prayer country is Denmark:

Population: 5,481,283

Largest religion: Christian

Percent Evangelical: 3.5%
