My apologies for having not posted a photo in a while; but then again, I suppose I did warn you this may be the norm for this year.
Such as it is, I couldn’t resist posting a photo documenting my daughter’s truancy. After all, she is a PK and this sort of rebelliousness is to be expected I suppose. Now, don’t get me wrong. I dearly love the ladies that operate our church library. Quite honestly, they do a bang up job. But when I saw this note sitting in my box at church, noticed it was for Lily, then read its contents. Well, I’ll admit, I laughed.
I think it may have had something to do with the line that reads, “…the following books, videos, CD’s or Cassettes…” Cassettes. Really! We’re actually taking time to track those down? And who’s checking out cassettes from the church library? I want to tell our ladies that who ever has any of the church cassettes, it’s theirs to keep. You know, as a gift from the church. Now, I know this is a standard, catch all form the ladies use. And I also know we still offer cassettes in the church library… as much as that pains me to admit such a thing. But I’m going on record, making a pastoral decision that all church cassette tapes are free to check out with no due date. In fact, should you return a cassette tape you’ve checked out, you’ll be fined.
The good news is, I covered for my daughter, and returned the Otto book promptly the next day. So all is again, right in the world. Or at least in our small corner of it, as far as the church library is concerned.
I guess you can say, I have a thing for squirrels. It may have something to do with when I was younger, I’d hunt them. Any how, over the years I’ve acquired a fair number of them in nick-knack form. My latest, was a Christmas gift from my brother, seen here. While it’s not actually a pen holder; it is in fact a nut cracker. The truth is however, I don’t want to see him marred by the cracking of too many nuts, thus I think I’ll allow him to live on my work desk and double as a pen holder instead. What do you think?
Thank you Craig’s List! We’ve been on the hunt for a while now, and today the hunt has come to an end. Not only is it the perfect size with great lines; it’s in good shape and doesn’t need any sort of refinishing. Oh, and it’s solid. Lots of good work, no doubt will transpire here.
Apparently Play- Doh was the hot ticket item for Christmas this year. Today we chose to play with the ice cream shop set. As you can see we made a delicious waffle cone with vanilla ice cream and a cherry on top… and a bit of a mess. But then making a mess is half the fun, right!?!
Note the loud speaker there, just under the transformer, toward the middle of the pole. The reason I took a picture of this particular loud speaker, was because when I rounded the corner, leaving the coffee shop downtown, I noticed blaring from the loud speaker… Abba, in all their 1970’s glory. For a quiet, Amish community, I thought Abba an odd choice to play as our down town, shopping music. But what do I know. Maybe Abba is the perfect choice for shopping music.
